Tags and Tummy Time!

Lately, I have heard about these "tag blankets" and how much babies love them. During our "friends reuniting" weekend, Kari's daughter Lexi, had a tag blanket that her mommy says she loves so I was intrigued. Apparently, babies love playing with the tags on the blankets and it helps stimulate their sense of touch with the different textures. It can also become a great source of comfort for baby to snuggle with during naps, car rides, doctor's appointments, etc. After checking out Lexi's blanket, I knew it was something that I could make - and what a fun project it turned out to be! Here are the four blankets I made this weekend, super fun and very easy!!

Madelyn loves her activity mat and we work everyday on a bit of tummy time; she is able to hold her head up like a champ! When she is on her back, her favorite thing to look at is the mirror at the top of the mat...she basically just really loves mirrors no matter where they are :) Here are some pictures of today's tummy time!

Two Months!

Madelyn had her 2 month doctor's appointment October 26th. This is a day that mommy dreaded big time! I was excited to see how much she had grown but was completely stressed about the shots I knew she had coming. Luckily, the pediatrician was excellent and the nurse was super fast at giving her all 5 (yes, five - ugh) shots and the oral injection. Madelyn was certainly not a fan of the shots and basically screamed through the entire thing :( Mommy did pretty well, no tears but definitely got teary-eyed once the doc and nurse left and I was consoling our screaming daughter. She did get some pretty stylish bugs bunny band-aids out of the deal! Luckily, she didn't run a fever or have any negative side effects. She did have a melt-down after about a 30 minute nap after she got home from the appointment and I could tell it was a "pain cry" so I quickly administered Tylenol (with a friend's help) to help give her some relief. It kicked in rather quickly and she was just sleepy the rest of the day.

On the more fun side, she has grown to 12 lbs. 1 oz, 23 1/2 inches long, and her head is 15" in diameter. The pediatrician said she is the picture of perfect health! Her next check-up is at 4 months. Unfortunately, that means more shots but the way I see it is if we survived the first round, we'll certainly survive the second.

Friends Reunite!

This past week was a very special one for mommy and Madelyn! Two very close Navy spouse friends of mine (Kari and Stephanie) were pregnant the same time I was...literally just weeks apart. During our pregnancies, we had always talked about (aka "wished") how one of these days we would have a reunion so that all of our girls could meet. Little did we know, we'd be able to pull this off within the first three months of our girls being born! Stephanie's husband had to come to San Diego for job-related business and she and their two kids, Logan and Ellie, came along with him! Once we knew that was happening, our friend Kari booked a flight to come in from Monterey with her daughter Lexi. We all met at our house last Tuesday for the first time since our daughters were born and it was SO much fun!! I couldn't enough of these adorable little girls! Lexi has the bluest eyes and the craziest, cutest hair! Sweet Ellie has the best smile and the most expressive eyebrows we decided :) We ended up just hanging around the house and chit-chatting which ended up being the best way to spend our time in my opinion! Tuesday night, I hosted a spaghetti dinner at the house and had three other moms (Danyel, Erin, and Silviya) over with their little girls. It was a packed house with lots of babies and loads of fun!! I truly cherish the friendships I have made with each one of these ladies! Wednesday and Thursday Kari, Steph and I were able to spend more time together with our girls and then Friday we said our good-byes. While it was very hard to see them both go with their little girls, it was an amazing time that Madelyn and I will never forget. Of course while they were here, we had several photo shoots with matching outfits :) Here are some pictures from our reunion and spaghetti dinner - enjoy!!

New Pics of Sweet Madelyn!

As of today, Madelyn is 7 weeks and 1 day old! Here are some recent pictures of our little lovebug - enjoy!!

Holy Catfish!

David has been in Virginia the past several weeks attending Fire Control School for his upcoming position on his new ship. He has been crazy busy attending class, studying for tests, all while juggling his online masters class. He doesn't have much down time but when he does, he has been able to spend it fishing with some of his classmates! Check out the success they're having! After a long day of fishing, they headed back to David's place to have a fish fry! While we're glad he's been able to fish and have such great luck, Madelyn and I are anxiously awaiting his arrival home mid-November, can't come soon enough :)
