Little Bump

Well, we are 13 weeks and 3 days today! Other than finishing up this cold that I've had, I'm feeling great...barely any pregnancy symptoms at all right now. While we're still pretty early, there is definitely a "pooch" that's making itself known. We decided it was probably time to start documenting this process and started that process today. Here's a picture that David took this evening capturing the start of a belly...something we can later compare to :) Next appointment is March 3rd where we'll get to hear the heartbeat!

Promotion Day!!

Today was a GREAT day, David went from Ensign Gardner to Lieutenant JG Gardner!! Yep, it was Promotion Day meaning David has already been in the Navy for 2 years - crazy right? The time has actually gone by fairly fast and he's now halfway through his initial contract. I was able to take a day off from work and headed over to the ship (well, actually to the barge b/c the ship is still in the yards) to have the honor of pinning David! There was a great turnout of colleagues in support of his promotion and I surprisingly managed to pin him successfully without dropping a single bar - whew! David took his oath, gave a nice little speech and presto, promotion was done...time to celebrate! We decided to head over to Anthony's Fish Grotto for lunch and what a great choice that was! I had teriyaki steak and David had Red Snapper with coconut shrimp! We had a fantastic waiter who brought us a yummy ice cream cake to celebrate David's promotion! The food was amazing, the service was fantastic and the view was beautiful - we'll definitely have to go back there sometime! David's promotion day was just perfect, couldn't have gone better - enjoy the pictures!!

Home Sweet Home

A couple of weekends ago, David and I decided to head out and explore some of downtown San Diego. We rode the trolley for the first time, which was great...$5 bucks and you could ride all day! It was almost dinner time and we knew there was a Kansas City Barbeque somewhere downtown and decided we must find it. We went up one trolley stop and were very pleased to see KC Bbq right around the corner! What makes this place so special, other than the fact it's named Kansas City Barbeque (woot!), is that this is where they filmed several scenes of Top Gun! It was the coolest experience getting to see all of the memorabilia and eating some amazing bbq (pulled pork, YUM!)...I even got a t-shirt :) After we were full and miserable, we walked back to the trolley and called it a night - a great night!

There was not an empty space in the entire restaurant, very cool!
The actual piano where Goose played while the guys sang, "Great Balls of Fire."

The infamous jukebox, we all know the scene :)

Baby Gardner in Action!

So it's official, we're pregnant! We are technically 12 weeks 3 days today which means we made it past the dreaded first trimester!! I have to say overall, the first trimester was pretty good to me...a couple of weeks of just feeling nauseous all the time but other than that, I've felt great (it's great to have my appetite back)! The worst thing I have now is a cold which is rather miserable, can't wait to get over it!! Okay, back to baby :) Baby Gardner is due August 30th...about a week after school starts! We have a check-up March 3rd and then the exciting ultrasound where we find out if it's a baby girl or boy April 12th!! I have to say, now that everyone knows, it's really starting to set in. It seems like you hold your breath for the first 12 weeks and now that I can breathe, it's becoming very real! To make things even more real, check out the video of yesterday's ultrasound (proud papa took it ;) You can see Baby G moving all over the place, I think I've already watched it a half dozen times.

David and I thoroughly enjoyed telling all of our family and friends last night! My mom and sister screamed and cried for a good minute before being able to talk to us and David's parents were really surprised...I even remember Nancy saying she was speechless!! The entire evening of sharing our news was priceless, couldn't have gone better. We have already been showered with so much love and support from our family and friends, it really means a lot to us.

Lastly, enjoy some ultrasound photos from previous appointments! I still think the best part about the appointments (other than seeing baby of course), is watching David - again, priceless.

We'll continue to keep you posted and updated with the latest and greatest with this new addition!!

Love,
Lisa, David, Baby G, and Zoey
