Happy Birthday David!!

For David's 32nd birthday, Madelyn and I planned a surprise dinner at Bucca di Beppo where many of our friends were able to join us!  Though it had been planned for over a month, David had no clue right up to the very end!!  After we stuffed ourselves silly with yummy Italian cuisine and the BEST chocolate cake we (or at least I) have ever had, we headed home to open presents!  I think you can tell by the photos that David had a pretty great day...wonder where we'll be or what we'll do for birthday #33 :0)

Balboa Park Play Date!

We took advantage of today's beautiful San Diego weather and met up with our good friends the Albrechts at a local park; we always have a great time when we get together and today was no exception!  After playing in the park we all decided to go get some pizza at Lefty's - it sure was yummy!  Mads was worn out from her day in the sun and passed out on our way home...maybe she'll sleep in a bit later tomorrow morning ;0)

Reenlistment on USS Midway

One of David's sailors asked that he do his reenlistment on the USS Midway last month - very cool!!  Here's a picture of David giving him the oath :0)

Let's Get Crafty!

Last weekend we headed to IKEA to purchase a small $19.99 desk and chair set I had my eye on for Mads.  Out of the box it's rather plain so I decided to add a little vinyl and spray paint to give it a makeover! I had seen the idea a few days earlier on Facebook and loved it.  After my crafting was done, it was time for Madelyn to get a little messy so we opened some paint and let her have at it!  After painting we figured, why not go outside and play with sidewalk chalk, right?  She had a blast and enjoyed painting on her paper almost as much as she enjoyed painting on her legs...

She loves her new table set!

Good thing it's washable!

Promotion to Lieutenant!

March 1st, I was able to join David for his promotion ceremony - that's two for two (was able to attend his promotion to LTJG as well...newly pregnant :0).  Anyhow, the ceremony was brief but very nice and you could feel the support for David from his fellow colleagues.  It started with David's CO saying a few nice words about what the bars for each rank stand for then they moved forward to the oath; David repeated it flawlessly.  After the oath, I was able to take off his LTJG silver bars and replace them with lieutenant bars!  After a few handshakes and paper signing, it was official!  We celebrated by going out for lunch at Pizza Nova in San Diego splitting a pepperoni/pepperoni & mushroom pizza, ceasar salad and a yummy apple cobbler dessert!  We decided it best to keep Mads in daycare since the location of the ceremony was under heavy construction...not a good place for our little love bug.  I just finished up sewing on his new patches on his uniforms so he's all set for his first full day of work on Monday as LT Gardner - so proud of him!!
